40 Years Young ... A Heart of Gold with a Twinkle in His Eyes to Match ... We Will Miss You Matt!

Today we are mourning the loss of a family member ...

Tuesday my cousin Matt was returning from a business trip from England with his boss when he started feeling ill. He complained of a stomach ache and when he started throwing up there was a lot of blood. The pilot followed protocol and diverted to the nearest airport. They landed in Nova Scotia and he was transported to the hospital. They did Emergency Surgery to try to find the bleeding. They found a nightmare instead. It appears as though he was in liver failure, kidney failure, he had an intestinal infection as well as 'puss pockets' in his abdomen. He went in to cardiac arrest and they revived him. He was then put on life support so he didn't have to work too hard to breath and such. Well yesterday morning they went in and did another surgery which he survived but the news was grave. He had scirosis of the liver and really there was nothing they could do. My cousins and his fiancee arrived via plane to be by his side but my uncle, aunt and his sister could not travel by plane because they did not have a passport. Instead they had to drive to Quebec and get on a flight to Halifax. His parents; however, did not make it in time and my cousin Matt passed away around 4:00 on March 4th. It is surreal, sad, crushing and heartbreaking. Even more heartbreaking is that after 8 years of dating his girlfriend my cousin proposed to her this past Christmas and there wedding was supposed to be October 24th in Florida. The family is in shock that my 40 year old cousin who had a heart of gold and would give you the moon if you asked is gone - and gone so fast ... it is so sad ... so we will celebrate Matt's life and mourn the loss of his life at same time ... he always put a smile on your face so we will honor his memory by smiling today ... God Bless you Matt and say Hiya to Pop for me ...

Matt's Visitation was yesterday and this morning is his Funeral ... any and all prayers are welcome ... I hate being this far from my family and my heart is broken for my Uncle, Aunt, Cousin and Tammy - his fiancee ...
