Happy Tuesday to anyone and everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Our weekend was fun and busy and fun. Friday night Jaden and I headed to Michael’s to pick up her school party craft supplies and then to Wal Mart for goodie bag supplies and plates/napkins/cups for the party. Her school party is Friday from 9:30 – 10:45 and so far I have recruited 3 other moms to come along and help me out. It should be a really fun time – Jaden is counting down the days until she can wear her costume! She’s pretty excited!
Saturday was the Baby Shower from 11 – 1 and it was a lot of fun. We had about 20 people there to celebrate and it was good to see so many of our friends and family who are just as excited as we are for Baby#2. Unfortunately Jaden was TOO excited to see Hannah and the swimming pool that she was MIA for most of the party so there aren’t too many pictures of her with me – or at all for that matter. She did get out of the pool long enough to help open presents but she was a little ‘irked’ that Kendra was helping her – she wanted to do it all by herself since is was a party for her sister … gotta love those 6 year old emotions don’t you? But in all reality it was a little hectic with a 4 year old helping with gifts – by the time I saw the card the gift was long gone! It was slightly nightmarish and I had to go through everything again when I got home just to see what was given to us. So I can understand why Jaden was annoyed! Oh well – this too shall pass! Jolene and Heather put together some fun games and there was way TOO much food of course … but it was all yummy! Jason came along and hung out by the pool with Heather’s boyfriend Dan … then he filled his car and took the loot home. We got so many nice things – LOTS and LOTS of clothes. We also got money to buy the armoire for the baby’s room from my MIL, a diaper genie from my SIL, lots of fleece and fuzzy blankets and some great fleece jammies. Jolene found the cutest lovey blanket – a pink satin teddy bear and when you opened it up it was embroidered with Charlotte Jo inside – it is so cute. Jolene also surprised me (since she has always maintained her lack of creativity) with a diaper cake – it was beautiful and she did a great job … I will add some pictures! It was a nice time all in all and like I said – I have some great friends!
Sunday we woke up to wind gusts of 45mph and sleet which turned into SNOW! It was bitter outside and we decided we might want to get Jaden a new winter coat since her coat from last year is too short – so off to Wal Mart we went again – after a stop at the pet store for a fish tank heater. Jaden found a cute pink coat with hats and gloves and was very happy come Monday when the bus stop temperature was 25!!! Thankfully this week should warm in to the 60’s by Thursday but we are getting a ‘glimpse’ of winter!!
The house is also coming along just fine – the roofers finished the roof Saturday afternoon and the window was put in yesterday. Jaden’s bedroom wall was also framed up – as well as the doorway! Jason and Jaden climbed the ladder up to the new room and she got to be in her room for the first time! It looks like it will be a pretty big room – bigger than she has now! I will add pictures of that too!
Today marks Week 29 for Baby #2 and I am thinking I have 9 weeks left – based on my Dr’s opinion! So let’s see what happens this week …
How Your Baby's Growing: Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.
How Your Life’s Changing: Your baby's very active now. Your practitioner may ask you to spend some time each day counting kicks and will give you specific instructions on how to do this. Let her know if you ever notice a decrease in activity. You may need a nonstress test or biophysical profile to check on your baby's condition.
Some old friends - heartburn and constipation — may take center stage now. The pregnancy hormone progesterone relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation, coupled with the crowding in your abdomen, slows digestion, which in turn can cause gas and heartburn - especially after a big meal - and contribute to constipation as well. Your growing uterus may also be contributing to hemorrhoids. These swollen blood vessels in your rectal area are common during pregnancy and usually clear up in the weeks after giving birth. If they're itchy or painful, try soaking in a sitz bath or applying cold compresses medicated with witch hazel to the affected area. Also avoid sitting or standing for long stretches. Talk with your practitioner before using any over-the counter remedies during pregnancy, and let her know if you have any rectal bleeding. To prevent constipation, eat a high-fiber diet, drink plenty of water, and get some regular exercise. Some women get something called "supine hypotensive syndrome" during pregnancy, where laying flat on your back causes a change in heart rate and blood pressure that makes you feel dizzy until you change position. You might note that you feel lightheaded if you stand up too quickly, too. To avoid "the spins" lie on your side rather than your back, and move slowly as you go from lying down to sitting and then standing.
I am right on schedule it seems with kicking and punching and all that – thankfully the heartburn, constipation and hemorrhoids have stayed away. The light-headedness is around and happens regularly. Not always while laying down – sometimes just sitting up – then I get a hot feeling – then dizzy – then feel nauseous. So I get that a bit – hopefully it is fine – the Dr has not commented. Oh and I forgot to mention – my Glucose Test came back fine – I passed with a blood sugar level of 75 – actually low but it usually is … so thankfully I can cross that off my list. Due to the BP issues though I start Dr visits every other week until the 36th week and then we go every week – with some ultrasounds thrown in there for good measure! But the Dr did say that so far I am doing everything PERFECT and have gained 18 pounds so far!
Well enough blabbing – I obviously had a lot to say! Hope you are all having a great week!
