Baby#2 - Week 14

Well the weekend has flown on by as usual and that means that today is Tuesday already ... We had a nice and beautiful weekend! Friday night we met up with Rose, Andy, Hailey and Hannah ad went to a Classic Car Cruise in Lakeville. It was a hot one - 95 outside but with a thankful breeze! We ate some 'street food' (ie. corn dogs and snow cones) and watched some pretty neat cars drive by. Unfortunately there weren't too many entrants because there was serious weather forecast and who wants to get caught in a storm with their classic car? Well the storm held off - we left around 8:30 and the sky quickly got black the closer we got to home ... it was pretty creepy and I admit I was nervous looking at the wall clouds and the strange greenness of them ... we pulled into the garage as the rain came down ... we escaped anything serious - just wind and rain but an F3 tornado did touchdown in Wilmar north of the Twin Cities ... Saturday we had some contractors out to the house to help with my indecision on moving to a bigger house or adding on to ours ... after they left we headed to the Mall to meet up with Jolene, Jeff, Hannah and Katie ... I bought some comfy maternity looking clothes and Jaden got some new flip flops - because every 6 years old needs 15 pairs right?? We were at the mall for a while and enjoyed ourselves ... Jaden also scored a pink metallic Nintendo DS that will come in handy on our 22 hour car ride in 3 1/2 weeks! Oh and I find myself enjoying the DS too - she got a Petz Fashion Dog Game and it is pretty fun!! Sunday - as usual was laundry, cleaning, mowing and car washing ... it was a nice weekend! This weekend is pretty busy yet again and this week is turning out to be a pretty hot one weather wise ... I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Now onto Baby#2 Status ...
How Your Baby Is Growing: This week's BIG developments are - your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee and possibly suck his/her thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his/her facial muscles are getting a workout as his/her tiny features form one expression after another. His/Her kidneys are producing urine which he/she releases into the amniotic fluid around him/her - a process he'll/she'll keep up until birth. He/She can grasp too and if you are having an ultrasound now you may even catch some thumb sucking in action. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom he/she measures 3 1/2 inches long - or about the size of a lemon - and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His/Her body is growing faster than his/her head which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week his/her arms will have grown to a length that is in proportion to the rest of his/her body. (His/Her legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's/She/s starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo all over his/her body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week - a sign that it's doing its job right and his/her spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Tough you can't feel his/her tiny punches and kicks yet, your little one's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
How Your Life Is Changing: Welcome to your second trimester! Your energy level is likely returning, your breasts may be feeling less tender and your quesiness may have been completely abated by now - if not chances are it will soon. The top of your uterus is a bit above your pubic bonem which may be enough to push your tummy out a bit. Starting to show can be quite a thrill, giving you and your partner visible evidence of the baby you've been waiting for. Take some time to plan, daydream and enjoy this amazing time. It's normal to worry a bit now and then but try to focus on taking care of yourself and your baby and having faith that you're well equipped for what's ahead.
Well I am happy to report that I never really felt any morning sickness but I did suffer from a serious lack of energy issue ... thankfully that has subsided for the most part but the blood pressure medication that I was put on a week ago has a side affect of drowsiness ... and that was pretty true - felt like narcolepsy - I wanted to sleep anywhere I sat down ... thankfully that is gone too - so hopefully we are smooth sailing ... if only my craving for guacamole from Chipolte would go away we'd be good to go! Have a great Week!

I love your blog. All that information about the baby developing and what is going on is fascinating! I pray that your pregnancy continues to be an easy one and that your blood pressure doesn't become too much of an issue.

Jaden is adorable! How fun that she is looking forward to being a big sister.

You look GREAT and you are glowing! I love reading up about the baby and it's growth. I remember when I received my weekly email and ready it over and over. Even though I have never "met" you I feel so part of your pregnancy by this blog. Speaking of blog, love the makeover! Where did you find this one. I need to change mine around too.

I see Jaden got a Nintendo DS. Madeline best friend did too and now she's begging for one too. She just got a Leapster LMAX at Christmas and now she already wants something different. UGH- We will see, but I know it was worth the money for you since you have that long car ride.

Hope your having a great week. My parents leave the 24th for their car ride and trip to MN!

See you tomorrow...I am going to do a small FFF with some pictures from this week.
