Baby #2 - Week 8

(ABOVE: Fetal Development at week 8)

Well it is Tuesday and that means I get to see what Baby#2 is growing this week and what he/she is looking like ... we have been relaxing around the house the past week. Saturday is was hot and humid in Minnesota so we spent the early afternoon at a local daycare carnival. Jaden played in the jumper, got her face painted, played some games and ate lots of treats. We didn't stay long because of the heat so we headed home after only an hour or two. When we pulled in the driveway our neighbor Christina was outside playing with the hose - so Jaden headed across the street to play with Christina for about 2 hours. Next thing you know it was Sunday! Sunday we usually do all our laundry, clean and vacumn the house and just relax. And that is what we did - I came in to work for a few hours to get some printing done for our project submittal Monday but other than that nobody left the house - I like days like that. Saturday we also had a local contractor come out to the house to give us a few 'option' for adding on or making space for Baby#2 and a Family of 4 ... we hope to have some estimates later this week and then decided what we're goign to do - build on, sell or stay the way it is .... lots of choices. Other than that I a happy to report that by week 8 I am still not feeling any sickness like I did with Jaden. I am not sure if this has to do with the fact that 4 years ago I has Gastric Bypass Surgery - lost 130 pounds and now that my 'innards' are located differently perhaps it makes it harder to be nauseaus ... you see, I don't have any stomach acid in my body any longer which makes it nearly impossible to (sorry for the graphicness) throw up. So maybe this is what is keeping me from hugging the toilet thus far. If so, that is okie dokie with me ... or maybe it is the "Old Wive's Tale" ... sick as a dog usually means a girl my neighbor said - tired and not as sick means a boy ... who knows right! Anywho - we are gearing up for an uneventful week yet again ... nothing planned except hopefully swimming and enjoying some sun since it has been hiding in MN for about a week ... This weekend we are attending an Autism Fundraiser in Albert Lea - it is bowling so that should be interesting and then Father's Day on Sunday - we have a surprise in store for this weekend but we can't tell you on here in case dad is reading ... so hope you are all having a wonderful week so far ... now let's see what Baby#2 is up too shall we?
Now onto Baby#2 - Week 8
How your baby is growing: New this week: webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his/her eyelids practically cover his/her eyes, breathing tubes extend from his/her throat to the branches of his developing lungs and hi/her 'tail' is just about gone. In his/her brain nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you are having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby is now about the size of a kidney bean and is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.
I am going to start adding this part - just so myhusband can feel sorry for me sometimes ... Just kidding ... but it does help explain some things!
How your life is changing: You may feel that your bra is getting more snug. Soon you'll likely need a larger size with better support. Rising levels of hormones cause breast growth and other tissue changes, all in preparation for lactation. Your breasts may continue to grow throughout pregnancy. Don't be surprised if you go up a cup size to two, especially if this is your first baby. Keep this in mine and allow for room to grow when investing in a new bra.
Feeling fatigued? Hormonal changes - in particular, a dramatic rise in progesterone - may be contributing to your sluggishness. Nausea and vomiting can certainly cost you energy too. And you may be having trouble getting a good night's sleep at this point, especially if you're uncomfortable or find you need to get up to pee.
** I am happy to add that none of this pertains to me as of yet, except for the breast stuff ... YIPPIE! **
Have a wonderful day!
Love ~ The Clark Family ~ Rebekah, Jason, Jaden & Baby#2 TOO!
