Okay ~ it is official! I live in HELL … well actually, HELL has frozen over and we are what remain! Yup ~ we are also crazy Minnesotans living in HELL that has frozen over. I am not sure, even after 10 years, why I chose to live here. It must have been Jason’s charm and good looks that brought me from NY to MN almost 10 years ago because it certainly was NOT the lovely weather … sure the summer and fall are beautiful here in the Upper Midwest but the remainder of the 7 months pretty much STINK! How about a little ‘recap’ of winter 2007-2008 shall we?
We have had snow on the ground continuously since December 1, 2007 = 17.5 weeks, 122 days, 2,928 hours, 175,680 minutes or 10,540,800 seconds
We had 35 days with temperatures at SUBzero levels (yeah, Below ZERO – some days were as cold as 25 below with wind chills at or below -45) = 5 weeks, 35 days, 840 hours, 50,400 minutes or 3,024,000 seconds
We have not seen temperatures at or above 50 degrees since (roughly) November 10, 2007 = 20.3 weeks, 142 days, 3,408 hours, 204,480 minutes or 12,268,800 seconds
We have had a total of 37.8 inches of snow since December 2007 – that is below average but being that it was beyond ‘chilly’ here the snow from December is STILL on the ground – keep in mind that is still more than 3 feet of snow!
Oh and to add icing to the cake – the entire state of Minnesota can now call itself the NATION’S ICEBOX!
Oh and to make some of us question even more why we actually live here … this is what we had as temperatures yesterday … 53 degrees, sunny and the snow is ALMOST all gone! And this is what we have coming today per http://www.startribune.com/ … “several inches of heavy "heart-attack" snow will cloak the metro area, with more overnight for as much as 8 inches” … okay so why would we opt to live in a place that touts HEART ATTACK snow?
Yeah – I am not sure either! UGH! Spring – come out come out where ever you are …
Love ~ The Clark’s ~ Rebekah, Jason and Jaden TOO!
