(* They came out so much better than I visioned in my head! *)
So – it was six years ago this past February that we embarked on the roller coaster ride called “home Ownership”. I was way past being 9 months pregnant and we were searching for a house in order to get out of our rental town house with a horrible neighbor! Well we found a cute little house in Prior Lake. We loved the city – Jason used to live on the exact same street. The neighborhood was wonderful and we were near the lake and the local park was right across the street. When we took a tour of the house we loved the new Pergo flooring that the homeowner was putting in himself. Well that LOVE has been shattered within the last six years. You see, we’ve come to learn that not all “Do-It-Youselfers” can actually do it themselves. This became obvious with the Pergo flooring almost immediately … the seams were cracking; the glue wasn’t wiped off so there were dried glue beads all over. The quarter round added to the flooring wasn’t mitered on the edges – there was even a hole in the closet where flooring should have been. Not to mention the DIY Guy didn’t use the proper stair pieces on the steps – instead he built the step out which made it quite dangerous to walk up and down so Jason tore them out before we even moved in. So for the past six years we’ve lived with the floors the way they are and haven’t had any floor covering on our stairs since. This has driven me pretty much CRAZY for the past six years … we discussed a few options – put carpet on them, paint them, stain them etc. Well I am happy to say that we finally came to our solution. But Wait … a little precursor …
I am originally from NY and all my family remains there. Each year my parents fly to Minnesota to enjoy our wonderful March weather to celebrate Jaden’s Birthday. Well this year – being that she is in kindergarten now – we decided to have them come during Spring Break (which starts tomorrow!) So my mom, dad, sister and brother in law are all hopping into a large rental car and embarking on the 20 hour drive from snowy cold NY to snowy cold MN – yeah, we’re not too bright are we? Well they are scheduled to arrive here on Friday some time in the afternoon. Jaden is excited to have her party on Saturday with family and friends and plenty of egg coloring! This all sounds wonderful doesn’t it? Yeah – I think it does too … I mean I miss my family and Jaden loves all the attention she otherwise doesn’t get (yeah right - *wink*wink*). So what would make this event even better than it already is? Well let me tell you …
Last night a flooring consultant with Empire Today (Yeah from those stupid commercials!) came out to give us an estimate on hardwood flooring and carpeting upstairs. Well fast forward 2.5 hours and we swallowed the amount quoted and signed the paperwork for installation. This sounds wonderful doesn’t it? Yeah I am super stoked … except – last night Jason and I spent 2 hours cleaning out every nook and cranny upstairs and moved the furniture out in to the sunroom because as of 9:00 this morning the flooring installers are at the house tearing up all the old ugly Pergo and putting down the new flooring today. Yeah – I am a glutton for punishment aren’t I? The majority of the hardwood will be installed today – the stairs will be done tomorrow – the carpet will be done Thursday … and my family arrives Friday! Wish us all luck that a divorce isn’t on the horizon too – Just kidding of course! Actually I am pretty excited to finally have it done … I just hope it gets done in time and that Jason and I keep our sanity, our optimism and of course we still like each other … Wish us luck! I will be sure to post pictures as soon as I take them! Have a GREAT DAY!
Love ~ The Clark Family ~ Rebekah, Jason and Jaden TOO!
